Growing up in Los Angeles, one makeup look has reigned supreme: the TikTok trend we know and love, the ever-so-glowy and highly sought-after ‘Clean Girl’ look. We've watched as the ‘Clean Girl Aesthetic’ transcended into a variety of microtrends: from model-off-duty to no makeup makeup, and while they admittingly have us all in a chokehold, they collectively point to one thing: no fuss, less-is-more, minimal makeup.
Clean Girl Makeup, defined:
💧 Barely there, fresh and dewy skin

Take a walk through LA's scorching summer streets, and you'll see: highlighting your natural features (or not-so-natural features, which is as equally common to see in these parts) has never been more relevant in the world of beauty. And while not everyone can do it like glow icon Hailey Bieber with exclusive skin treatments, we can still serve and slay this trend nonetheless (and do so on the low 🤑).
As a California native prone to hormonal breakouts and dry skin, here's how I achieve that glass skin glow:
Step 1: Barely-There Base Prep
Moisturizer and SPF are your best friends here. Starting with the right skincare routine is the most essential step, so make sure you have that covered before you begin. Remember, glow is the goal here, so we're prepping our base with one of my personal favorites, the Revolution Bright Lights Primer
Next on the to-do list is neutralizing discoloration and creating an even skin tone. My favorite way to achieve this is by color correcting: it allows you to use less concealer and foundation later on while refraining from flaunting texture as most complexion products do. I opt for the Superbase Colour Correcting Green Base, which transforms from green to beige when applied to the skin and neutralizes redness.

Step 2: Conceal, but only where needed!
For the under eyes, you want a concealer that's lightweight, non-drying, and filters out dark circles and fine lines all day long. Enter our fan favorite: the IRL Filter Finish Concealer
For concealing blemishes, I love using a precision brush with the Conceal and Define Concealer(as it has a highly pigmented formula) to dab on a small (yes, tiny) amount of product atop the breakout. I then let it sit for a minute and lightly blend! Once it's covered, use a small brush and translucent powder to set the spot in place - only applying powder atop the concealed areas will ensure you maintain that eye-catching, dewy glow everywhere else!

Step 3: Golden-Hour Bronzed Glow and Flushed Cheeks
Cream products 🤝 Clean Girl Makeup! The perfect way to bring that sun-kissed glow to your skin is with cream and liquid products - they won't dry you out or get cakey, and they create a new level of goal-worthy, natural radiance.
For naturally defined cheekbones: Apply the Glow Splendour Bronzer with your fingers, brush, or blender (your preference!) to melt the product into the skin.
For a faux sun-induced flush: Apply the Superdewy Liquid Brush with your fingers or a blender across your cheeks and a little over the nose
Step 4: Effortlessly Ethereal Eyes
When it comes to eyes, think soft and ethereal. Embrace neutral shades such as warm browns, soft pinks, and earthy taupes to create a subtle and mesmerizing eye look. Opt for a naturally-voluminous mascara that lengthens and separates your lashes without overwhelming them. For a touch of whimsy, consider adding delicate winged eyeliner or a subtle hint of shimmer to your inner corners.
Step 5: Sleek, Fluffy Brows
Frame your face with naturally full, feathery, delicately-defined brows! Fill in your brows by creating natural, hair-like strokes with a brow pencil. Follow up with a brow gel to lightly comb through and brush the hairs upwards while using the edge of the applicator to shape and define the exterior arches.
