In case you missed it, Coachella 2023 has officially kicked off, and festival season is upon us! The first weekend saw a wave of fresh makeup looks, outfits and hairstyles giving all the inspiration – from subtle to heavy rhinestone looks (Alexa, play Taylor Swift Bejewelled!), to head-to-toe Barbie (eat your heart out), here are some of our favourite make-up looks from Coachella 2023 we’ll be trying out this summer – we’ve even added in how you can recreate these looks with Revolution products! .
GlITTER LIDS
Right off the bat, we noticed glitter-coated eyelids were everywhere! Bang on that Y2K trend that’s been strong over the last year, this shimmering look can be worn either as a bold statement look with heavy duty glitter on the eye lids, or with a few strokes of glitter for a subtle touch of shine – you’ll definitely catch us recreating throughout this festival season!
To achieve this simple yet multidimensional look, play it cool using silver to accent the lids, or if you’re feeling extra, try and use a shade from your outfit and incorporate the same way onto your eyelids too. BARBIECORE
So you’ve seen the iconic Barbie memes fresh of the boat from Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie, so it’s little wonder everybody’s favourite doll has well and truly influenced Coachella’s beauty scene!
Barbiecore is big right now but nail it your way – Keep it simple with rose accents – using multidimensional pink highlighter or glittering rhinestones as an accentuating finishing touch, or for hardcore Barbie fans, go in heavy with the hot pink, keeping your outfit and makeup monochrome for a matchy-matchy, Margot Robbie moment!
RHINESTONE MOMENTS
A24’s Euphoria has been having a moment since the show was released, resonating with beauty fans due to its effortless graphic, sparkling looks that are easy to recreate and feed into 90s and 00s nostalgia.
So many of this year’s Coachella make up trends have been heavily detailed around the eyes; from shimmery glam glitter lids to graphic detailed liners, with major rhinestone moments in the mix too!
There are no wrong choices to make when it comes to rhinestones. We spotted everything from subtle small gems placed around the eyes, all out symmetrical gem designs on the forehead and cheeks – the options are all endless! To customise the look, start by using a liner to map out where you’d like your rhinestones to go, and then place them either on the corners, or dot them around the line to add impact.
Still can’t get enough of rhinestones on your face? Opt-in by bedazzling your hair, and even finding an outfit with rhinestones on too: got an outfit without the jewels? Don’t worry, you can easily add rhinestones on to your favourite outfits, or even place them on your shoes!
GRAPHIC LINER
If hot pink and glitter just isn’t your vibe, graphic liner just might be your go-to this festival season! Coachella saw an abundance of high impact black liner – time to draw inspo from emo/punk beauty trends of the 00s...
Start around the eyes with lines or custom designs (remember, there are no right and wrongs!), and if you’re wanting to stand out, draw the lines beyond the eyes and take them to your temples. For the rest of your outfit, mismatch your top and bottom half, plait your hair and finish with chunky accessories, layered rings and your chunky platform boots to really nail the look.
